The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the Math Teachers’ Circle Network, and the Association of State Supervisors of Mathematics have undertaken a collaborative effort to help math education leaders identify promising features of state and district ESSA plans. The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) is the education program that replaced No Child Left Behind and restructured how and where federal money for education is allocated. Every district, school, and teacher will be impacted by their state’s ESSA plan. This collaborative effort is intended to help the mathematics education community provide detailed and constructive feedback that promotes the advancement of mathematics education explicitly in state and district ESSA plans. Stay tuned for more details on how you can get involved, and contact Brianna Donaldson (brianna (at) aimath . org) with questions.
